Quests that give Firemaking Experience

Before hopping right into the guide, let’s take a look at the quests that give Firemaking experience. Most of the quests that give Firemaking experience are pretty easy and have fairly low requirements. The main exception is Making Friends with My Arm. Since it requires 72 Mining and 68 Agility, along with 66 Firemaking in the first place, some players may forgo the opportunity to get 5,000 of that experience. Here is a list of these quests and their requirements. Remember, if you don’t feel like questing, we do quests! Feel free to use Ezrsgolds Questing service!

This amounts to 19,075 total Firemaking Experience.

The Giant Dwarf is an Intermediate difficulty quest and is Medium to Long

Heroes’ Quest is an Experienced difficulty quest and is Medium to Long

Enlightened Journey is an Intermediate difficulty quest and is Short unless you grow the tree yourself

Making Friends with My Arm is a Master difficulty quest and is Medium length

Enakhra’s Lament is an Experienced difficulty quest and is Medium length

Important Items

Tinderbox

This is the only item that is mandatory when lighting fires. It can be obtained from a general store or from another player.

Pyromancer Outfit

This is obtained as a set of rare drops from the Wintertodt minigame. It provides a 2.5% Firemaking experience bonus across the board, so we highly recommend it if you are going for 99 Firemaking. If you would like to know more about that, we have a Wintertodt Guide here!

Places to Train Firemaking

The Grand Exchange

The GE is probably the easiest place to train your Firemaking since you are likely to be there pretty often anyway. You should start past the wall on the east as far north as possible, your line of fires will run west into the bank area where you can get more logs. The only issues with training here are that sometimes other people do this too, which can get in the way, and it is hard for some people’s internet connection to deal with it on populated worlds. If these things might be an issue for you, look below at other places to train your Firemaking.

Rogue’s Den

Rogue’s Den is a good place to train cooking if you haven’t unlocked the Hosidius range yet. It is also a good place to make fires since lighting 25 fires can land you directly in front of a bank chest to grab more logs. You can get to Rogue’s Den by teleporting to Burthorpe with the Games Necklace and entering the nearby pub. Then, open and enter the trapdoor behind the bar. Here is what your lines of fire should look like.

Wintertodt

Wintertodt isn’t the most optimal place to light fires, but it will definitely work in a pinch. You can’t quite fit 27 fires between the bank door and the opposite wall, but you can definitely do about half of an inventory. Here is the location at Wintertodt.

OSRS Fastest P2P 1-99 Firemaking Leveling Guide

Levels 1-15: Lighting Logs

Requires 61 Logs costing around 8,500 coins

Grants about 46,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 3 minutes if buying the logs, 10-15 minutes if cutting the logs

You can easily cut these yourself whilst training, simply cut an inventory of logs and burn them in a line. Then repeat until you hit level 15.

Levels 15-30: Lighting Oak Logs

Requires 183 Oak Logs costing around 26,000 coins

Grants about 69,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 8 minutes if buying the logs, 20-30 minutes or more if cutting the logs

You can still easily cut these yourself whilst training.

Levels 30-35: Lighting Willow Logs

Requires 101 Willow Logs costing around 2,000 coins

Grants about 104,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 4 minutes if buying the logs, 15-20 minutes if cutting the logs

You could choose to cut these whilst training if you wish to level up Woodcutting as well, but some players choose not to because they cost significantly less than Oak Logs and normal Logs

Levels 35-45: Lighting Teak Logs

Requires 373 Teak Logs costing around 105,000 coins

Grants about 121,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 15 minutes

It’s at this point that most players buy the logs or obtain them ahead of time because it would take a long time to obtain 300+ logs while trying to train Firemaking, adding unnecessary length to a relatively short skill.

Levels 45-50: Lighting Maple Logs

Requires 295 Maple Logs costing around 2,500 coins

Grants about 155,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 12 minutes

Maple logs cost very little to buy, so we highly recommend just buying 295 of them from the Grand Exchange. Keep in mind, you may have to buy more if you are choosing an alternate path that involves burning Maple Logs for longer than 5 levels.

Levels 50-60: Lighting Mahogany Logs

Requires 1,095 Mahogany Logs costing around 452,000 coins

Grants about 181,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 45 minutes

Levels 60-75: Lighting Yew Logs

Requires 4,626 Yew Logs costing around 1,150,000 coins

Grants about 233,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 3 hours

Levels 75-90: Lighting Magic Logs

Requires 13,614 Magic Logs costing around 14,850,000 coins

Grants about 350,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 9 hours

Levels 90-99: Lighting Redwood Logs

Requires 21,966 Redwood Logs costing around 6,750,000 coins

Grants about 402,000 experience points per hour

Takes about 18 hours

Levels 45-60: Lighting Maple Logs

Requires 1,573 Maple Logs costing around 12,500 coins

Grants about 155,000 experience points per hour

This path saves you about 400,000 coins on your journey to 99, and it will only take about 30 minutes longer to complete. If your best money making method is somewhere below 200,000 coins per hour, this may be the option for you. It is important to note that if your best money making method is less than 200,000 coins per hour, it would be all around better to go for the cheapest path listed below, since just saving 400,000 coins on Mahogany Logs won’t save you from the massive costs of Yew Logs, Magic Logs, and Redwood Logs.

Levels 45-99: Lighting Maple Logs

Requires 96,069 Maple Logs costing around 768,500 coins

Grants about 155,000 experience points per hour

This is by far the cheapest way to get to 99 Firemaking by burning logs. This method will save you about 21,000,000 coins in your journey. However, it will take about 50 hours longer to complete. If your best money making method is below 420,000 coins per hour, this would be more efficient for you.

OSRS P2P 50-99 Firemaking Money Making Leveling Guide (Wintertodt)

A more detailed wintertodt guide can be found here.

Levels 50-99: Subduing Wintertodt

Requires about 600 Wintertodt kills

Takes about 40 hours

This is the best way to make money while training your Firemaking. Don’t forget, if you make too much money, we buy gold! This method can award anywhere from 160,000 experience to 320,000 experience per hour, but is primarily recommended for two types of characters. These are:

Low HP Level Characters (Particularly less than 15 or so HP)

The reason characters with 15 or less max HP (the lower the better) have an advantage here, is because the wintertodt does damage based on your max HP. If you have 10 HP, the wintertodt will only ever hit you with 1 damage at a time making it much cheaper and easier to heal.

High Skill Total Characters (Particular Skills listed below)

The main reason we recommend this is that having higher levels in some non combat skills improves the drops of the supplies pertinent to those skills. These skills and resources are:

Herblore for herbs

Mining for ores

Fishing for fish

Crafting for uncut gems

Farming for seeds

Woodcutting for logs

Characters like this could have a low HP level such as above, and subsequently should just bring wines to heal. A character with a high HP level (normally above 90) should bring Saradomin Brews instead. Levels 45-99: Lighting Maple Logs

Requires 96,069 Maple Logs costing around 768,500 coins

Grants about 155,000 experience points per hour

This is by far the cheapest way to get to 99 Firemaking by burning logs. This method will save you about 15,000,000 coins in your journey. However, it will take about 20 hours longer to complete. If your best money making method is below 750,000 coins per hour, this would be more efficient for you.

It is important to note that if you choose to collect the ashes from your fires, it will save you about 60,000 coins per hour. This could potentially allow you to make money when burning Willow Logs and Maple Logs. However, this will decrease your experience rates by approximately 10%. This is much more likely to be useful for a F2P account.

That’s it! We hope you enjoyed this guide on how to level up your Firemaking to 99! We have guides on plenty of other skills too. Don’t forget, we offer many other services as well!
