The king of F2P melee.
The Rune Scimitar gives a +45 slash bonus and delivers the best DPS you’ll get on free-to-play worlds.
If you’re playing without membership, this isn’t just a good weapon – it’s the weapon.
How to obtain:
Dropped by Fire Giants, or crafted at 90 Smithing.
14. Dragon Scimitar
Few weapons are as iconic as the Dragon Scimitar. Its bright red curved blade is instantly recognizable.
With a +67 slash bonus, it’s the strongest scimitar in OSRS and a staple mid-game melee weapon. Ironmen in particular rely on it all the way to 99 Strength.

13. 3rd Age Longsword
Let’s be honest – this one is more for bragging rights than practicality.
It does have a respectable +72 slash bonus, and it’s technically the strongest longsword in the game… but with a price tag of 1B+, most players just buy better weapons instead.

12. Saradomin Sword
A classic 2-handed slash weapon with +82 slash and surprisingly quick attack speed for a two-hander. Great for fast Strength training, and even better when upgraded.
If you attach a Saradomin’s Tear, the sword gains an extra +18 slash, transforming it into a serious DPS tool.
It’s not as popular nowadays due to stronger alternatives, but Pures still love it because it doesn’t require Defence levels.

11. Zamorak Godsword

But it’s slow – which is why it isn’t used as a main weapon.

Useful in PvP and even some PvM encounters like CoX Muttadiles.

10. Armadyl Godsword
The AGS needs no introduction.
It’s a legendary PvP finisher and has ended more fights than almost any other weapon.
Like all Godswords, it offers +132 slash and +132 strength, but the special attack Judgement is what makes it deadly:

Up to 37.5% more damage than your normal max hit
One-hit KO potential in PvP

9. Crystal Halberd (i)
The Crystal Halberd sits at a huge +110 slash, but almost nobody uses it as their main weapon because of its slow attack speed.
Where it does shine is PvM special attacks:
Great for fights like Theatre of Blood (Bloat) or Thermonuclear Smoke Devil
Deals strong special damage
Only works on large monsters
Its special attack uses 30% spec energy and gets weaker with repeated uses – but the first few hits are powerful enough to justify it.

After completing the Hard Western Provinces Diary, trade a crystal seed with Islwyn.
8. Saradomin Godsword
The SGS offers the same +132 slash and +132 strength as other Godswords, but its special attack Healing Blade is one of the most useful utilities in the entire game.
With 50% special energy, it:
Increases your max hit by 10%
Doubles accuracy
Heals 50% of the damage dealt
Restores 25% of that amount to Prayer
It’s basically free food and prayer, making it a top choice for long slayer trips, the Fight Caves, and the Inferno.

Attach a Saradomin Hilt (from Commander Zilyana) to a Godsword blade.
7. Dragon Claws
Dragon Claws are synonymous with fast, brutal damage. While the slash bonus is only +57, the special makes up for it:
Slice and Dice hits four times instantly, using 50% special energy.
In PvP, it forces panic eating. In PvM, it’s a great burst weapon.

Rare drop from the Chambers of Xeric.
6. Arclight
Arclight only has +38 slash, but don’t let that fool you – this is the best demonbane weapon in OSRS.
Its passive effect grants:
+70% damage vs demons
+70% accuracy vs demons
Special attack that reduces enemy stats (10% on demons)
Against bosses like Cerberus, K’ril Tsutsaroth, or Abyssal Sire, this thing absolutely melts health bars.
